2 dead as man runs amok in Batangas City

LUCENA CITY — Two brothers were stabbed dead on Sunday night by a knife-wielding man in Batangas City.

The Batangas police reported Monday that Ruben Torino, 52, chief of village watchmen, and his sibling, Robinson, 50, tried to pacify Reynaldo Barangas, who was reportedly running amok around 8 p.m. in Barangay Bilogo,

But instead of heeding the call to calm down, Barangas attacked the brothers and repeatedly stabbed them.

Ruben retaliated and shot the attacker using a .9mm pistol.

Barangas fled but the report did not specify if he was wounded after being shot.

The victims were rushed to Jesus of Nazareth Hospital in the city but were both declared dead on arrival.
