2 dead, 1 hurt in truck-van collision in Quezon

LUCENA CITY – Two people died and another one was injured in a collision Saturday (Oct. 14) at the Maharlika Highway in Calauag town in Quezon province.

The Quezon police in a spot report said that driver Sajad Latip Murajie, 40, lost control of his Toyota HiAce Commuter van while traversing the highway in Barangay (village) Sta. Maria around 8 a.m.

The wayward vehicle consequently collided with the oncoming Bicol-bound truck driven by Robert Segador.

Murajie and his two passengers – Sunshine Bandin, 32, and Danny Cruz, 60 – suffered grave injuries.

Rescuers rushed them to the St. Peter General Hospital in the town proper, but Murajie and Cruz were declared dead on arrival, the report said.

The police were conducting further investigation.
