LUCENA CITY — Anti-illegal drugs operatives arrested three suspected big-time traffickers in a buy-bust operation early Tuesday, October 10, in Cardona, Rizal and seized more than P559,000 worth of shabu (crystal meth) and an illegal firearm.

The Rizal police office said in a report that the Cardona police station was tipped off about an ongoing illegal drug activity in Barangay Calahan.

Major Roberto Papa, Cardona police chief, immediately dispatched a drug enforcement unit and arrested three drug pushers at 6:35 a.m.

The suspects were identified as “Bon,” “Richard,” and “Roderick.”  Richard and Roderick are both security guards.

Authorities seized from the suspects 12 sachets of meth weighing 82.2 grams with a Dangerous Drugs Board value of about P559,640.

The police also confiscated an undocumented loaded .45 pistol and three mobile phones, which will be subjected to digital forensic examinations if they have records of drug transactions.

“The apprehension of the suspects is a result of the intensified campaign of the Rizal PNP (Philippine National Police) to address the problem of illegal drugs, which leads to various crimes,” Colonel Rainerio De Chavez, Rizal police chief, said in a statement.

The suspects are under police custody and face charges of violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, illegal possession of a firearm, and violation of election code.
