MANILA, Philippines — The last two days of 2024 will be rainy for some parts of the country, the state weather bureau said on Sunday.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said in its 5 a.m. weather advisory that the rains are caused by the shear line and the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ).

The shear line is the convergence of warm and cold winds, while the ITCZ is the merging of winds from the northern and southern hemispheres.
Moderate to heavy rainfall (50 to 100 millimeters) will prevail in Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, Quezon and Palawan on Monday (December 30).
Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, and Surigao del Sur will also experience moderate to heavy rainfall on Tuesday (December 31).
Pagasa warned that the rains may bring localized flooding mainly in urbanized, low-lying, and coastal areas while landslides are likely in highly susceptible areas.
