Speeding motorcyclist dies in road mishap

A 17-year-old motorcyclist and his back rider died in a road accident in San Jose town, Batangas province, on Wednesday, Jan. 11.

LUCENA CITY — A speeding motorcycle rider died on Wednesday night after his vehicle crashed into a concrete wall in Ibaan town in Batangas province.

Randy Villones, 29, was negotiating an unpaved road in Barangay Sabang Ibaan at 6:55 p.m. when he lost control of the motorcycle and crashed into a post of a concrete wall on the roadside, the Batangas police reported on Thursday, Oct. 5.

The rider suffered grave injuries and were taken to Queen Mary Hospital in the locality but died on the way.

The report said the victim was “traversing too fast” which resulted in the accident.

The report did not state whether or not Villones was wearing a crash helmet, a requirement of the Motorcycle Helmet Act of 2009.
