MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) system is expected to return to normal operation in two days after it was hacked last week.
PhilHealth’s finance policy sector Senior Vice President Israel Francis Pargas said they have been operating manually since the system breach.
He said processes took some time under manual operation but assured the public that they are “trying very hard” to bring their automated system back.
“Well, sa ngayon po ay talagang kami ay we shifted to manual operations simula po noong Biyernes hanggang ngayon but we are expecting that by today or until tomorrow ay mai-up na po naming ang ilan sa mga sistema na ito at muling magamit natin,” said Pargas in the Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon public briefing.
(Well, right now we really shifted to manual operations starting last Friday until now but we are expecting that by today or tomorrow, we will be able to get some of these systems up and we can use them again.)

PhilHealth has been working with the Department of Information and Communications and Technology and the National Privacy Commission to investigate the cyberattack and restore the state insurer’s system.
On Friday, September 11, hacker group Medusa attacked PhilHealth’s system but the agency assured members and stakeholders that no data was compromised.
