PNP: 935 cops axed, 242 demoted
Almost a thousand police officers have been dismissed from service since January last year due to their unscrupulous activities and misdemeanors.
The Philippine National Police said on Tuesday that from Jan. 1, 2022 to Aug. 30, 2023, a total of 935 police personnel have been dismissed from service, 242 demoted in rank and 1,850 suspended for various infractions.
“This significant step underscores the PNP’s unwavering vow to ensuring that its personnel adhere to the highest standards of professionalism and integrity,” said Col. Jean Fajardo, spokesperson for the PNP.
“It leaves a powerful note that those who engage in unlawful activities and misdemeanors will face the appropriate consequences, including dismissal from the service when necessary,” she added.
“We do not tolerate these and this is not the culture and the norms within the PNP,” she said.
