LUCENA CITY – The Philippine National Police in Quezon seized more than P30.6 million worth of shabu (crystal meth) and marijuana and arrested 106 alleged illegal drug traffickers in the province during their month-long operation in August.
Colonel Ledon Monte, Quezon police chief, in a report on Friday, Sept. 1, said anti-narcotics operatives in 39 towns and two cities in the province confiscated a total of 1,503.52 grams of shabu and 6.20 grams of dried marijuana leaves in 88 buy-bust and recovery operations from Aug. 1-31.
The confiscated illegal drugs were worth about P30,673,186 in the street market, the report said.
On top of the successful operation was the arrest of Alibsar Macasari, a drug trader based in Cavite province, on Aug. 9 in this city.
The suspect, a “high-value” target in the government’s drug war, yielded 400 grams of meth worth P8,160,000 in the street market at P20,400 per gram.
The next day, policemen in Candelaria town recovered one sealed plastic bag containing 511.5 grams of meth inside the toilet of a fast-food branch in the locality.
The illegal drugs with a street value of P10,434,600 were hurriedly left by still unidentified traffickers after patrolling cops entered the eatery.
Also arrested in August were 898 illegal gamblers and 171 wanted felons, some of whom were included in the region’s most wanted list.
The police also nabbed 28 illegal loggers and coconut cutters, 68 persons engaged in illegal and destructive fishing activities and 25 holders of undocumented firearms.
