1,120 suspected criminals, P11.5-M illegal drugs seized in July in Quezon
LUCENA CITY — The Quezon police arrested 1,120 suspected criminals and seized more than P11.5 million worth of illegal drugs in the province in July.
Colonel Ledon Monte, Quezon police chief, in a report on Tuesday, Aug. 1, said they nabbed 107 suspected drug traffickers and confiscated 567.47 grams of shabu (crystal meth) and 6.20 grams of marijuana in 89 buy-bust operations in 39 towns and two cities from July 1 to 31.
The confiscated illegal drugs were worth about P11,537,820 in the street market.
On top of the arrested drug trader is Samuel Marino, a “high-value” target in the government’s drug war. He was busted in Pagbilao town on July 17 and yielded meth worth P3,627,000 in the street market.
The Quezon police also arrested 160 wanted criminals, 782 illegal gamblers, 50 illegal fishers, eight illegal loggers and coconut cutters, and 13 holders of undocumented firearms.
The police would continue to strengthen their battle against all forms of criminal activities in the province, Monte vowed.
