LUCENA CITY — More than P956,000 worth of shabu (crystal meth) were seized from four drug suspects in Cavite and Laguna on Tuesday and Wednesday.
A drug pusher was wounded and three others were arrested in a buy-bust operation at 1:46 a.m. Wednesday in Barangay Santiago in General Trias, Cavite where an armed encounter ensued, the Region 4A police reported.
Drug suspect Jay Rentoy reportedly shot at the authorities using a caliber .38 revolver to evade arrest, but missed his targets.
The policemen were forced to return fire and hit Rentoy. He was taken to the Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo Memorial Hospital for treatment.
The police arrested three of Rentoy’s associates identified as Oscar Munzon, Mary Rose Dela Cruz, and Ruel Miranda.
Authorities recovered Rentoy’s undocumented and loaded firearm, three sachets of crystal meth (shabu) weighing 54.69 grams with an estimated Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) value of P371,892 and a digital weighing scale.
In Calamba City, Laguna, police anti-narcotics operatives nabbed Corazon Nibreja in a drug sting at 6:58 p.m. on Tuesday in Barangay Bañadero.
Seized from the suspect were five sachets of shabu weighing 86 grams with a DDB value of P584,800.
The police tagged Nibreja as a high value individual on the drug watch list.
Investigators in Cavite and Laguna were tracking the source of the illegal drugs.
All arrested suspects were placed under police custody and face charges of violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Rentoy will also be slapped with another case for illegal possession of a firearm.
