Fishing vessel sinks off Batangas, 13 rescued — Coast Guard

 MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) on Monday said its personnel rescued 13 crew members of a fishing vessel that sank Sunday off Calatagan, Batangas.

The Anita DJ II sank around seven nautical miles off Cape Santiago, Barangay Bagong Silang on Sunday morning.

The PCG vessel BRP Bacagay was dispatched to respond to the distressed vessel. 

The search and rescue team of Coast Guard Sub Station Calatagan aboard the 44-meter multi-role response vessel reported that Anita DJ II was spotted listing at about 1:35 p.m. before totally sinking at around 3:17 p.m.

The ill-fated boat with gross tonnage of 448.83 tons and net tonnage 273.59 tons departed Navotas Fish Port and was bound for Palawan.
