Crew member hurt, seven others rescued from burning boat
ZAMBALES, Philippines — A crew member sustained minor burns while seven others were rescued from a burning boat in the vicinity waters off Philippine Ports Authority Port in Margosatubig town in Zamboanga Del Sur, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said on Friday.
Citing the rescued individuals, the PCG said the Motorbanca Minhayad encountered engine trouble which caused fire while on its way to Barangay Lenok in Lapuyan town last August 23.
“The engine backfired and caught fire due to fuel residue,” the PCG said in a statement.
PCG said the injured crew who acquired minor burns on his legs “received immediate medical attention and necessary assistance” while other rescued individuals were “declared to be in good physical condition.”
