MANILA, Philippines — The Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT-1) will have limited operations from Gil Puyat (Buendia) to Fernado Poe Jr. (formerly Roosevelt) stations in the next three days due to mechanical and track issues, the Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC) announced on Thursday.
In an advisory, the LRMC said it conducted a careful assessment and initial corrective works to address the mechanical problem encountered by a Gen-2 train set earlier at 12:32 p.m. between the EDSA and Baclaran stations.
“Based on the assessment, the incident affected a portion of LRT-1 tracks requiring the LRMC Engineering team to perform additional trackworks for the next three days to ensure that the LRT-1 system remains safe for our passengers,” said LRMC.
“LRMC will continue to implement limited operations for LRT-1 while the trackworks are ongoing, with trains running between Gil Puyat Station and Fernando Poe Jr. Station only,” it added.
With this development, commuters were advised to plan their schedules accordingly. The LRMC then assured the public that they are “working as fast as [they] can” to resolve the issue and resume normal operations for the entire line as soon as possible.
