CITY OF CALAPAN — A magnitude 5.3 earthquake jolted parts of Oriental Mindoro early Thursday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.
In its 1:51 a.m. bulletin, Phivolcs said the tectonic quake that has a 10-kilometer depth of focus struck 14 kilometers northwest of Bansud town in Oriental Mindoro at 1:38 a.m.
It was felt at Intensity IV in Pinamalayan town; Intensity III in the City of Calapan and Roxas; Intensity II in Boac in Marinduque, Victoria in Oriental Mindoro and Gumaca in Quezon; Intensity I in Lemery, San Luis, and Batangas City in Batangas, Abra De Ilog and San Jose in Occidental Mindoro, Puerto Galera in Oriental Mindoro, and Mauban in Quezon.
Local government units received no reports of damage to infrastructures caused by the earthquake.
