A BANK employee was killed after he was robbed of an estimated P400,000 by still unidentified suspects in Tayabas City early Tuesday, police said.
PO1 Wendell Pormasdoro, Tayabas police investigator, identified the victim as one Alexander Obleno, employee of the Rural Bank of Tagkawayan branch in nearby Sariaya town.
Police said Obleno was shot point-blank by one of the two suspects after Obleno got into a bus in Tayabas on his way to deposit the money he was carrying in a bank in Lucena City.
Quoting witnesses, Pormasdoro said after the shooting, the gunman grabbed the bag of the victim and escaped aboard a motorcycle being driven by a cohort. Delfin T. Mallari Jr., Inquirer Southern Luzon
Train kills man
A 25-YEAR-OLD store employee was hit and killed by a Manila-bound train near his house in Pagbilao town on Friday, police said.

2 thieves dead
TWO SUSPECTED thieves were killed in a clash with policemen in General Mariano Alvarez (GMA), Cavite, past midnight Tuesday.
Cavite police director Senior Supt. John Bulalacao, in a text message, said the slain suspects robbed victim Arcely Batiles prior to the clash past 1 a.m.
Batiles was waiting for a ride in Barangay Pulido, GMA, when the suspects aboard a motorcycle passed by and snatched Batiles’ bag that contained P10,000 in cash and personal belongings.
A police team patrolling the area for another operation happened to pass by and noticed the commotion.
Supt. Romeo Baleros, chief of the Cavite police intelligence branch, said police gave chase to the suspects who were fleeing toward Barangay F. de Castro. When cornered, the suspects opened fire, prompting police to fire back, he said.
The suspects, who are unidentified as of yesterday, died of multiple bullet wounds. Police recovered a .45 cal. pistol and a .38 cal. revolver and Batiles’ bag in the clash site. Maricar Cinco, Inquirer Southern Luzon

Bomb explodes
A BOMB exploded in a vacant lot near the overland transport terminal here past 2 p.m. on Monday.
Senior Insp. Ronaldo Llanera, Davao del Sur police chief, said the still undetermined type of bomb exploded some 100 meters from the bus terminal.
