Over P3M ‘shabu’ seized in Angeles City bust

Over P3M worth of 'shabu' seized in a buy-bust operation in Angeles City.

ANGELES CITY, Pampanga — A police buy-bust operation on Thursday, Aug. 17, in this city resulted in the arrest of suspected drug peddler and the confiscation of some P3,060,000 worth of “shabu” (crystal meth).

In a statement on Friday, Central Luzon police director Brigadier General Jose Hidalgo Jr identified the arrested person as Matarentis Mariga alias “Ate,” 25, resident of Quiapo, Manila.

Hidalgo said the suspect was a “high value individual” in the police’s list of suspected drug peddlers.

The sting operation took place in Cutud village in Angeles city on Thursday night when an undercover policeman posed as a drug user and was able to buy shabu from the suspect using marked peso bills.

Policemen allegedly seized from the suspect some 440 grams of shabu.

The suspect faces charges for possession and selling of illegal substance in violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. INQ
