Alleged gunrunner busted in Batangas

Police arrest an alleged gunrunner in Sto. Tomas City, Batangas.

LUCENA CITY — Police arrested an alleged gunrunner in a buy-bust operation early Sunday in Sto. Tomas City in Batangas province.

The Batangas police reported that an undercover police officer, who posed as a buyer, nabbed Norman Oco at 1:20 a.m. in Barangay Sta. Maria.

The report said Oco, a construction worker and resident of Barangay Sta. Maria, offered an undocumented Armscor shotgun with five bullets to the police agent for P10,000.

The police are investigating further to identify the source of the shotgun.

The confiscated firearm would be subjected to ballistic and cross-matching examinations to determine if they had been used in past crime incidents.

The suspected gunrunner was detained and will face a charge of illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
