Motorcycle rider yields illegal gun at Batangas checkpoint
LUCENA CITY – A motorcycle rider yielded an illegal firearm at a checkpoint in Tanauan City in Batangas province on Saturday night, July 30, a report said Sunday, July 31.
Batangas police reported that Jerick Buenaobra, 26, was flagged down by local cops at a routine checkpoint along A. Mabini Avenue around 10:20 p.m.
Buenaobra initially refused to show his driver’s license and copy of vehicle registration for verification purposes, but the police stood their ground.
When the suspect opened his sling bag to get his license and documents, a cop noticed a short firearm inside the bag.
Buenaobra was arrested after he failed to present government documents for the caliber .22 gun and six bullets.
The suspect was detained while charges of illegal possession of firearms and ammunition were being prepared. The police also impounded the suspect’s motorcycle.
