MANILA, Philippines — The tropical storm off Northern Luzon is not expected to enter the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR), the state weather bureau said Tuesday afternoon.
In its 4:00 p.m. bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Tropical Storm Lan was tracked some 2,740 kilometers east-northeast of extreme Northern Luzon with maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 80 kph.
Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon or “habagat” continues to affect parts of Luzon, particularly Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Abra, and Benguet, where cloudy skies and rain are expected.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience generally fair weather on Tuesday and Wednesday.
“Ang nararanasan natin ngayon lalo na sa Visayas at ilang bahagi ng Mindanao mapapansin natin medyo maaliwalas na po ang papawirin may tsansa lamang ng isolated thunderstorms lalo na sa hapon at gabi,” weather specialist Loriedin de la Cruz-Galicia said.
(In the Visayas and some parts of Mindanao, the weather is relatively clear, with chances of isolated thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening.)
Due to the “habagat”, Cruz-Galicia said a gale warning remains hoisted over Batanes, the northern coast of Cagayan, including Babuyan Island, and the northern coast of Ilocos Norte.
