MANILA, Philippines – The state weather bureau said that it had detected a tropical depression (TD) outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR), but it is not expected to enter nor affect the country.

In its Tuesday weather update, Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) weather specialist Grace Castañeda said the TD east northeast of extreme northern Luzon has no effect in the country.

“Meron tayong namataang bagyo o tropical depression sa labas ng ating area of responsibility dito yan sa may east northeast ng extreme northern Luzon at hindi natin ito nakikita na papasok sa ating area of responsibility at sa kasalukuyan ay wala rin itong direct effect sa mga bahagi ng ating bansa,” Castañeda said.

In a separate weather forecast, Pagasa said the TD had maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour (kph), with a gustiness of up to 70 kph. It remained ‘almost stationary’ from its position outside the PAR.

Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon will still cause rains over Northern Luzon, while the rest of the country will experience isolated rain showers and localized thunderstorms from time to time.

Metro Manila will have a ‘generally fair’ weather condition but may still experience isolated rains, especially from afternoon to evening.
