Pastor slain in Koronadal City gun attack

KORONADAL CITY — A leader of a religious sect was gunned down at noon on Sunday, August 6, by unidentified assailants while driving his motorbike at Purok Mabinuligon, Barangay San Isidro in this city.

City Vice Mayor Erlinda Araquil said Bishop Juanito Verbo Policios, founding president of God’s Family Care in Koronadal-Philippine Mission Incorporated and the religious coordinator of the office of the Koronadal City vice mayor, was driving his motorbike heading for home when two men riding on separate motorcycles shot him from behind.

Policios, also known among his Church members as Bishop Pol or Pastor Juanito, 50, was killed on the spot.

“It is with heavy heart that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved colleague Bishop Juanito Policios,” Araquil said.

“With this violent and inhumane act against him, we are calling [the] attention and urging our authorities to immediately take action,” she added.
