MANILA, Philippines — Several private and public schools in Metro Manila suspended classes on Wednesday, July 26, due to the effects of Typhoon Egay (international name: Doksuri).

Due to the typhoon’s strong winds and rains, Pagasa raised wind signals over Luzon provinces, including Metro Manila, which is currently under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1.

Below is the list of cities within the region that have suspended classes at all levels:

Pasig City

Malabon City 

Based on the 5 a.m. cyclone update of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration, Egay made landfall over Fuga Island in Aparri, Cagayan around 3 a.m. on Wednesday.

The state weather bureau also said that Egay is moving 20 kilometers per hour (kph), packing maximum sustained winds of 175 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 240 kph.
