TUGUEGARAO CITY — Local officials on Tuesday suspended classes and government work in this city and in the towns of Gattaran, Allacapan, and Peñablanca, all in Cagayan province, due to the impact of Typhoon Egay (Doksuri), the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office said.

The class suspension covered all levels in public and private schools, while those involved in emergency response and the delivery of essential services were exempt from the government work suspension.

Tuguegarao Mayor Maila Ting-Que said the suspension of classes may be extended depending on the weather.

She said a liquor ban was also enforced in this city.

Heavy rains and strong winds were already felt in Cagayan, but there were still no evacuees reported.

A “no-sailing, no-fishing” policy was enforced in the coastal towns of Isabela and Cagayan. A liquor ban was also ordered in Isabela.

Typhoon Signal No. 3 has been hoisted over Babuyan island and the eastern portions of Cagayan (Santa Ana, Gonzaga, Peñablanca, Gattaran, Lal-Lo, Alcala, Santa Teresita, Buguey, Aparri, Camalaniugan, Ballesteros, Allacapan, Abulug, Claveria, Pamplona, Sanchez-Mira, Santa Praxedes, Lasam, Baggao, Amulung, Iguig), the northeastern portion of Isabela (Divilacan, Maconacon, Palanan), and the northern portion of Apayao (Calanasan, Luna, Santa Marcela, Flora, Pudtol).

Typhoon Signal No. 2 was raised over other parts Cagayan, Isabela and Quirino. INQ
