Laguna suspends Monday, Tuesday classes due to Typhoon Egay

Laguna suspends Monday, Tuesday classes due to Typhoon Egay.

LUCENA CITY — Due to inclement weather spawned by Typhoon “Egay” (international name: Doksuri) classes in all levels in public and private schools in Laguna province are suspended on Monday and Tuesday (July 24 and 25).

Gov. Ramil Hernandez announced the suspension order before noon Monday.

Hernandez advised the public to heed all advisories from their respective local governments if the situation warrants an evacuation.

The governor said the provincial government is ready to extend assistance to distressed residents by calling the hotline 0921 907 8886.  The governor can also be reached through his Facebook page.

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) placed Laguna under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 1.

According to Pagasa, Egay is expected to cross the Luzon Strait and make landfall or pass very close to the Babuyan Islands-Batanes area between Tuesday evening and Wednesday afternoon.

Egay is forecast to intensify further into a super typhoon category by Wednesday.
