Cebu university cements place in world rankings
MANILA, Philippines — The University of San Carlos in Cebu City appeared to have cemented its place among the best universities in the country after landing in the annual Quacquarelli Symonds world university rankings for the third straight year since 2021.
The century-old institution was ranked fifth in 2024 after the University of the Philippines, Ateneo de Manila University, De La Salle University, and the University of Santo Tomas.
The rankings involved 1,500 institutions worldwide and presented three new metrics: sustainability, employment outcomes, and international research network.
The US-based Massachusetts Institute of Technology is still the top university in the world, followed by the University of Cambridge and the University of Oxford. The National University of Singapore remains the top university in Asia.
