Comelec to purge double or multiple registrations for 2023 BSKE

MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Monday said it would begin purging its voters’ database of duplicate or duplicated registrations in preparation for the 2023 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE).

In a statement, the Comelec said that the poll body is now set to conduct a Special Election Registration Board hearing to tackle the removal of multiple registrations.

The move was in response to the Commission en banc’s following directives:

Following the hearing, the Election Day Computerized Voter’s List and Posted Computerized Voter’s List will be distributed to the accredited citizens’ arms Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting and the National Movement for Free Elections for inspection and examination.

In May, Comelec found around 400,000 double or multiple registrants for the Oct. 30 BSKE.
