NCR COVID-19 positivity rate further drops to 11.6%

MANILA, Philippines — Metro Manila’s weekly COVID-19 positivity dropped to 11.6 percent as of June 10 from the previous week’s 16.7 percent, said Octa Research fellow Guido David.
David also showed that 20 other provinces recorded a decrease in their positivity rates.
Some of the highest drops included Palawan, which dipped from 29.6 to 17.9 percent; Isabela, from 47.9 to 40.6 percent; and Benguet, from 22.7 to 16.1 percent.
Meanwhile, nine other provinces recorded an increase in their rates.
“In Luzon, positivity rates went up in Cagayan, Camarines Sur, La Union, Oriental Mindoro, Pampanga, and Tarlac. Other provinces had a decrease in positivity rate,” said David in data posted through Twitter on Sunday night.
“Upticks were [also] observed in Aklan (very high positivity rate), Negros Occidental, South Cotabato,” he added.
Among these provinces, the highest upticks were in Aklan, from 50 to 54.3 percent; 15.6 to 23.5 percent in Tarlac; and 43.2 to 48.3 percent in Oriental Mindoro.
Based on the Department of Health’s (DOH) COVID-19 tracker, the country’s total caseload currently lies at 4,155,031 with 11,202 active cases, 4,077,348 recoveries and 66,481 deaths as of Sunday, June 11.

DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire previously said increases and decreases in the number of COVID-19 infections in the country are expected, attributing it to the lower number of tests conducted and the country’s increased mobility.
