TACLOBAN CITY – The city government of Borongan in Eastern Samar has offered a cash reward of P100,000 for those who can help find the suspect in the rape and slay of a 6-year-old girl.
By offering a reward money, Mayor Jose Ivan Dayan Agda said they hoped to expedite the arrest of the suspect identified as Albert Ohaya, 32.
“The city government of Borongan has put up a P100,000 cash reward who can help us find and arrest the suspect of this very shocking and repulsive incident here in our city,” the city mayor said during a press conference on Thursday, June 1.
“We offer our condolences to the family and hope to give them justice,” she added.
The report from the Borongan City police showed that the suspect and the victim, both residents of Barangay Baras, were last seen together in Barangay Pinanag-an, about a kilometer away from the village.
“There were eyewitnesses who saw the two together on their way back to Barangay Baras on that day (May 30). But it was only the suspect who reached the village. This bolsters our suspicion that he was responsible for the rape and killing of the six-year-old girl,” said Lieutenant Colonel Dexter Astacaan, city police chief.
The body of the girl, who was strangled to death based on the medical examination, was found about 5 p.m. on Tuesday at the village’s storage tank.
