Security guard shoots, injures man in restaurant confrontation

A SECURITY  guard shot and wounded a former overseas worker in a confrontation inside a restaurant in barangay Arpili, Balamban town, southwest Cebu.

Jose “Jomel” Montero, 37, fled after shooting Jason Dandan in the left armpit.

The shooting happened inside the Kusina ni Bossing Seafood Grill and KTV where Dandan saw his estranged wife and Montero having lunch last Saturday noon.

Montero is the security guard of ULB Construction where Montero’s wife was applying for a job.

Police said Dandan, who previously worked as a welder in Australia and the woman had been separated for years.

Police said while Montero and the woman were eating, Dandan arrived and confronted them.

At the height of the confrontation, Montero drew a gun and shot Dandan.

A wounded Dandan ran outside the restaurant and flagged down a tricycle, which brought him to the Balamban District Hospital, said Supt. Anthony Bagarino of the Balamban police.

Dandan was later transferred to a Cebu City hospital.

A pursuit  operation to arrest the security guard is ongoing, said police./CORRESPONDENT RHEA RUTH V. ROSELL
