Blasted fish seized in Lapu

POLICE seized more than 200 kilos of fish believed to have been caught through dynamite fishing in barangay Punta Engaño, Lapu-Lapu City.

The owner of the seized blasted fish Nilo Talingting, 38, was also arrested.

The buckets of fish, which weighed 245 kilos, were loaded in a motorized banca.

Talingting said he didn’t know that they were blasted fish when he bought them in Caubian island.

SPO1 Jomar Ybañez, head of the city’s Task Force Kalikasan, said they rushed to sitio Maxima at 1:30 p.m. yesterday after they received reports that buckets of blasted fish arrived from Caubian.

SPO1 Ybanez, who is also a fish examiner, said Talingting was arrested after it was confirmed that the buckets contained blasted fish.

Talingting will be charged for violating Republic Act . 8550 or the possession of blasted fish./CORRESPONDENT NORMAN V. MENDOZA
