MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) on Friday suspended sea trips in several provinces in preparation for the onslaught of Super Typhoon Mawar.
In separate advisories, the PPA explained that its action was meant to give way for preventive maintenance as Mawar approaches the Philippine area of responsibility.

The PPA urged the riding public to coordinate with their respective shipping lines regarding their trips.
So far, the list of suspended sea trips are:
May 26
- LCT Poseidon 17 from Padre Burgos, Southern Leyte to Lipata Surigao at 12:00 noon
- LCT Poseidon 35 from Padre Burgos, Southern Leyte to Lipata Surigao at 12:00 noon
May 27
- Seacat One from Cebu City to Calbayog City at 2 p.m.
- Seacat One from Calbayog City to Cebu City at 8 p.m.
According to the state weather bureau, Mawar is expected to enter the PAR by Friday night or Saturday morning.
The super typhoon is forecast to bring heavy rain in Northern Luzon and enhance the southwest monsoon toward the southern parts of Luzon and Visayas by Sunday, May 29.
