2 dead in Batangas, Rizal road mishaps

The bodies of two men who were reported missing in Nasugbu, Batangas on Monday (Dec. 26) were found on Tuesday (Dec. 27), police said.

LUCENA CITY — Two pedestrians died on Tuesday after passing vehicles hit them in separate road mishaps in Batangas and Rizal provinces.

Carmelita Abogoa, 50, was crossing the national highway in Barangay Caybunga in Balayan, Batangas when a Toyota Hi-Lux driven by Mark Joshua Calisin hit her around 10:50 p.m., the Region 4A police said in a report on Wednesday, May 17.

The victim died while being taken to Balayan Bayview Medical Center.

In Taytay, Rizal, a sports utility vehicle driven by Voltaire Vallestero bumped Reyn Niel Gervacio at 8:50 p.m. along Bangiad Velasquez Street in Barangay San Juan.

After the impact, the victim was run over by the rear tire of the vehicle. He died while being taken to a hospital.

Both drivers were placed in police custody and are facing criminal charges.
