Manggahan Festival starts

GUIMARAS—The 19th Manggahan Festival, touted as the most ambitious and colorful event ever held in the island-province of Guimaras, the mango capital of the Philippines, will officially open on April 16 with a trade fair at the Guimaras Trade and Industry Council (GTIC) function hall.

Officials, led by Gov.

Felipe Hilan Nava, and the Guimaras Manggahan Foundation Inc. will open the festival at the GTIC.

Street dancing competition at the capitol grounds will be held earlier.

The festival was first held on May 22, 1993, a year after Guimaras became a full-pledged province.
