During the same period, the DOH also logged 164 COVID-19 infections.

None of the new cases were tagged as severe or critical, according to DOH.

However, at least five of the total active cases in the region are admitted for treatment in COVID-19 health facilities for exhibiting severe and critical symptoms.

The DOH also verified at least one death due to the virus during the past week.

Even as confirmed cases continue to climb in the region, the use of beds reserved for COVID-19 patients in health facilities fell below 20 percent.

At least 16 percent, or 32 of the 199 intensive care unit (ICU) beds set aside for suspect, probable, and confirmed cases, had been occupied, the DOH data showed.

Nine percent, or 112 of the 1,224 non-ICU beds, were also occupied.

Only 40 percent of the 3.8 million fully vaccinated residents had received at least one dose of booster shot, the DOH data showed. INQ
