The health department also said no deaths were verified due to the virus during the past week.

Although cases in the region saw an increase in the past two weeks, the occupancy of hospital beds reserved for COVID-19 patients remained in the safe zone.

At least nine percent, or 17 of the 187 intensive care unit (ICU) beds set aside for suspect, probable, and confirmed cases have been occupied, the DOH data showed.

Ten percent, or 113 of the 1,116 non-ICU beds, were also occupied.

Only one of those admitted to hospital facilities in the region was being treated as a “confirmed severe, and critical” case, the DOH added.

Since the pandemic struck the country in 2020, the Ilocos region has had a total COVID-19 case load of 147,164, with 101 cases still active, according to the DOH tracker. INQ
