White firms up hold of lead

WHITE strengthened its hold of the lead after beating Blue, 73-68, Tuesday night for its 6th win in seven games (6-1) in the Customs basketball dubbed as the 3rd Major Alfonso Abbariao Cup- Biggest Loser-2012 Inter-color summer tournament at the Basak San Nicolas gym.

White jumped to a, 19-12 lead in the opening period behind Kenneth Maningo and Andrew Yu but Blue responded with an, 18-14 run in the second quarter to close the gap at, 30-33 at the half.

However, White padded its lead to six with a, 21-18 rally in the third and successfully parried Blue’s repeated rallies in the fourth for the 5-point win.

Kenneth Maningo led White with 18 points on top of four trifectas while Ferdie Laraga and Mamasao Capalan paced Blue with 18 and 12 markers, respectively.

Earlier, Green led from start to finish to outlast Red, 95-87 for its 5th win in seven games (5-2) while Red fell to 2-5.

Noted 3-point artist Jingjing Rama scattered a tournament-high 43 points spiked by nine trifectas with Noel Medalle adding 21 markers. Former UC Webmaster Kern Sesante paced Red with 34 points. Red fell to 2-5.
