Ambulant vendor in Tabuk City dies of heatstroke, says report

CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela — A 52-year-old ambulant vendor reportedly died Tuesday of heatstroke after he collapsed while hawking goods to motorists on the national road in Tabuk City, Kalinga province.

Emergency responders and local police immediately rushed to the scene and found the man, who was not named in the report, sprawled on the roadside, the Tabuk City disaster risk reduction and management office said in a report.

The police believed the man died of heatstroke due to the scorching heat.

The man, who came from Barangay Bulanao, Tabuk City, was brought to the Kalinga Provincial Hospital, but was declared dead on arrival.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said people should observe “extreme caution” when heat indexes reach 32°C to 41°C, which were experienced in northern Luzon these past few days.

The state weather bureau said “heat cramps and heat exhaustion are possible” and “continuing activity could result in heatstroke” due to the increasing heat indexes. INQ
