IBP Pampanga slams attack on Pampanga legal officer
MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga — The Pampanga chapter of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) has denounced the shooting of Pampanga legal officer Gerome Tubig in front of a hospital in the City of San Fernando.
“We strongly condemn the treacherous shooting and attempt on the life of our member, Provincial Legal Officer Gerome N. Tubig on April 17, 2023. Life is sacred and inviolable. Any form of violence has no place under the regime of law, peace, and democracy,” the group said in a statement.
The IBP Pampanga has urged law enforcement agencies to take necessary actions “to ensure that the perpetrators are held accountable.”
It said the Philippine justice system would be shaken and endangered if lawyers and those in the administration of justice were subject to malicious attacks, threats, and any other physical harm.
“We are praying for the healing and speedy recovery of Attorney Tubig, for his family, and loved ones,” the group added.
