LUCENA CITY — A motorcycle rider was arrested and yielded an illegal firearm and shabu (crystal meth) after a brief chase with police manning a checkpoint in General Trias City in Cavite province on Monday, April 17.
The Region 4A police reported that cops conducting “Oplan Sita,” a routine anti-criminality inspection, flagged down motorcyclist Jason de Asis in Barangay (village) Pasong Camachille 1 at 11:30 p.m. for driving a vehicle without a plate number.
While the authorities were inspecting the vehicle’s documents, the rider suddenly fled, prompting the policemen to give chase until he was cornered.
During the routine frisking, the police found the suspect carrying an undocumented caliber .38 revolver and a plastic sachet of shabu. The volume and street value of the illegal drugs were not specified in the report.
The suspect was placed under police custody and is facing criminal charges for driving without a license, violation of the firearm law and the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The police also impounded the suspect’s motorcycle.
