PNP activates two new provincial units

The Philippine National Police activated on Monday its new provincial police offices in the new provinces of Maguindanao del Norte and Maguindanao del Sur, following the split of the two provinces from Maguindanao.

PNP chief Gen. Rodolfo Azurin led the ceremony on Monday at the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao police regional headquarters at Camp Brig. Gen. Salipada K. Pendatun in Parang, Maguindanao Del Norte.

Maguindanao del Sur Police Provincial Office (PPO) is still based at Camp Datu Akilan Ampatuan in the capital town of Shariff Aguak, composed of 24 municipal police stations, with Col. Roel Sermese as its provincial police director.

The Maguindanao del Norte PPO is temporarily situated at Camp Pendatun and will be under the command of Col. James Gulmatico. —DEXTER CABALZA
