The Presidential Communications Office (PCO) on Thursday unveiled its new logo, which bears a sun and three stars symbolizing Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, which are also seen in the Philippine flag.
The new logo also has a pen or plume, which the PCO said symbolizes communication, and a lightning bolt that represents the speedy delivery of news and information.
“Starting today (April 13), the PCO will use its new official logo to be more effective in carrying out its mission as the primary agency of the Executive branch delivering information to the public more effectively,” the PCO said.
The new logo replaced the old seal that had been used since 2017.
In January this year, President Marcos renamed the Office of the Press Secretary to Presidential Communications Office.
The PCO is responsible for “crafting, formulating, developing, enhancing and coordinating the messaging system of the Executive branch and the Office of the President.”
In February, the President also reorganized the PCO, trimming down the number of undersecretaries from seven to five but increasing the number of assistant secretaries from eight to 14.
In his Executive Order No. 16 signed on Feb. 13, Mr. Marcos said there was “a need to reorganize the PCO to ensure rationalization of its organizational structure, functions and staffing pattern” for efficient and effective delivery of services. —NESTOR CORRALES
