Fugitive nabbed in Zambales 5 years after jailbreak

SAN ANTONIO, Zambales — A 40-year-old man who escaped prison in this province last year was arrested during a manhunt operation, police said Thursday.

In a report, the local police said the fugitive, whose name was withheld, was arrested at Barangay Rizal in this town on Tuesday, April 11, after more than five years of hiding.

The man escaped from detention at the Zambales Provincial Jail on September 24, 2017.

He had been charged with violations of the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition.

The fugitive’s arrest was based on an alias warrant issued by Judge Consuelo Amog-Bocar of the Regional Trial Court, Branch 71, in the capital town of Iba. INQ
