MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) on Monday said its personnel rescued 13 people after their boat capsized off Bonbon Beach in Romblon over the weekend.
The motorbanca “encountered strong waves, causing it to capsize” approximately 100 meters from the shoreline on Saturday, the PCG said in a statement.
PCG personnel, other first responders, and beachgoers assisted in the search and rescue operations
(SAR) of the 12 tourists and the boat operator.
“The SAR team successfully rescued all tourists in good physical condition,” the PCG added. — Maria Liezl Projella, trainee
