MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said it recorded a total of 125,686 passengers in all sea ports nationwide on Monday during the commemoration of Araw ng Kagitingan (Day of Valor).
Officially, the celebration of Araw ng Kagitingan is on April 9, but since it falls on Easter Sunday this year, the government moved the commemoration to Monday, April 10.
According to the PCG in a statement, the latest number was recorded from 6 a.m. to noon and consisted of 70,535 outbound passengers and 55,151 inbound passengers.
Moreover, the PCG said 2,774 frontline personnel in 15 PCG Districts had also inspected 502 vessels and 1,005 motor bancas.
It can be recalled that the PCG placed its districts, stations, and sub-stations on heightened alert to address the influx of port passengers during the observance of Holy Week and summer vacation until May 31.
The PCH then reminded the riding public to coordinate with the PCG through its official Facebook page or the Coast Guard Public Affairs (0927-560-7729) for inquiries, concerns, and clarifications regarding sea travel protocols and regulations during Holy Week and summer vacation this year.
