LEGAZPI CITY — Five persons drowned, while one was reported missing in San Jose town in Camarines Sur province on Saturday morning.

Major Rommel San Andres, San Jose police chief, said in a phone interview that a 12-year-old girl survived while her five cousins, three of them minors, drowned after big waves hit them while swimming around 9:30 a.m. along the seashore in Barangay Dolo.

Initial investigation said the victims swam together but minutes later, their uncle, Gilbert Cea saw them and asked for assistance from other people in the area.

San Andres said the search and rescue operation was still ongoing to find a 16-year-old girl who was still missing in the incident.
