CITY OF CALAPAN — A 4-year-old girl died from drowning while swimming on Thursday in a children’s pool of a resort in Baco town, Oriental Mindoro province.
The Baco public information office said the girl, whose name was not disclosed, was accompanied by her mother while swimming around noon when the victim failed to surface in the water.
Witnesses said the shocked mother was unable to get immediate help, but other guests and the resort’s security personnel managed to respond.
Emergency responders from the municipal disaster risk reduction and management office, police and local government performed first aid and tried to revive the girl, who threw up while being administered with cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
But when rushed to the hospital, the victim was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician. INQ
