MANILA, Philippines — The Dolomite beach will be closed for two days in observance of the Holy Week, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) said.

DENR on Wednesday said the “white sand” beach would be closed from April 6 (Maundy Thursday) to April 7 (Good Friday).

According to the agency, it will reopen from April 8 (Black Saturday) to April 9 (Easter Sunday) from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

FEATURED STORIES

The Dolomite Beach — created by overlaying mounds of artificial white sand on a 500-meter stretch of land along Manila Bay’s naturally gray shoreline — was first opened to the public in September 2020.

Proponents said the P389 million-worth project was done for “beach nourishment,” but critics deem it a massive waste of people’s money.
