LUCENA CITY — Two fires on Monday razed 45 houses in Cavite and Quezon provinces, reports said on Tuesday, April 4.
The local government of Bacoor City in Cavite reported on its Facebook page that around 30 to 40 families lost their houses after a 25-minute fire broke out at 10:12 p.m. in Barangay Bayanan.
One unidentified resident was injured during the blaze and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
A police report said the blaze razed 30 houses.
The fire victims are temporarily housed in a covered basketball court where local social workers are attending to them.
In Atimonan, Quezon, at least 13 houses were burned in a fire that started at 10:10 a.m. at the house of one Letecia Hernandez in Barangay Zone I Poblacion, the police reported.
As the house was made of light materials, the blaze quickly spread, the report said.
The fire was put off 40 minutes later and left more than 25 persons homeless. They were settled temporarily in an evacuation center.
No one was reported hurt in the fire.
Atimonan police placed the initial damage to properties at around P3 million.
Investigations were ongoing to determine the cause of the fires.
