SAN ANTONIO, Zambales — Nine families, or 34 individuals, were displaced after a fire hit a residential area in the capital town of Iba early Monday, March 20.
The Iba government said the fire in Barangay Palanginan razed an undetermined number of eateries and houses.
Fire investigators said the blaze lasted an hour, forcing some affected residents to seek temporary shelter inside the Barangay Hall Compound.
The fire broke out at 9:50 a.m. and quickly spread since the houses and establishments were of light materials.
Firefighters put the fire under control at 10:28 a.m., completely extinguishing the flames at 10:50 a.m.
The Bureau of Fire Protection has yet to disclose the cause of the fire pending the complete result of the investigation. INQ
