MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 5 earthquake hit Davao Oriental on Saturday, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
State seismologists said that aftershocks are expected.
Phivolcs detected the quake at 12:11 a.m. and located its epicenter 145 kilometers southeast of Governor Generoso in Davao Oriental.
The tectonic earthquake’s depth of focus was 29 kilometers.
Phivolcs reported Instrumental Intensity I in the City of General Santos, Malungon, Sarangani, and Don Marcelino.
No damage is expected, Phivolcs said.
